# AuditKeyboard

## What it is

AuditKeyboard is a small hardware keypad (a macropad, in the same family as a
Stream Deck or a programmable shortcut pad) that sits on your desk and shows you
what your AI coding and audit agents are doing. Its job is the moment agents are
worst at: stopping for a human.

Agents run in the background. When one drafts a change and needs sign-off, a key
on the pad turns amber. You press it to approve. Nothing an agent proposes is
applied until someone presses a key.

## The light language

The slot keys are a traffic light for how destructive a pending AI suggestion
is, readable from across a room before you have focused your eyes:

- **White (#C8C8C8): Nothing pending.** That slot is empty.
- **Green (#00C850): Item added.** Approving it puts something new into the
  record and takes nothing away. The safe end of the scale.
- **Yellow (#FFD200): Item updated.** It edits something that already exists,
  so approving it rewrites what a reviewed item says.
- **Red (#FF1E1E): Item deleted.** An agent is proposing to remove something
  from the record. On an audit trail that is never routine.
- **Amber pulse (#FFA000): Overdue.** Any slot that has been waiting on a human
  longer than the configured threshold.
- **Magenta (#FF00C8): Recording.** The voice bar is listening.

## The hardware

- Base unit: Work Louder Creator Micro 2 Pro, reflashed with agent firmware.
- Controls: a rotary encoder (scrolls the pending queue), a joystick (a radial of
  saved views), a grid of square keys, and a wide 2U bar for voice dictation.
- Lighting: per-key RGB plus underglow, with frosted caps on the queue keys so
  the light reads through them.
- Connection: USB-C or Bluetooth.
- Sentinel keycodes F13–F23 are emitted to a local bridge process, which is what
  turns a keypress into an approval and agent status into LED color.
- Platform: Windows.

## Layers

The same keys do four different jobs; touch the strip to cycle between them.
Finger positions do not change between layers.

1. **CoworkCanvas**: the keys *are* the AI suggestions waiting for you. Press to
   approve (once to arm, again to confirm); arm the reject key first to send one
   back. Also: open the review queue, jump home, force a queue refresh.
2. **Claude Code**: send a prompt, answer a permission dialog (yes / yes-and-
   don't-ask-again), interrupt a turn, cycle permission modes, compact the
   conversation, start a fresh session, keep it going, toggle todos.
3. **Codex**: the same finger positions wired for the Codex TUI, so muscle
   memory doesn't care which agent is running.
4. **General**: media transport, mute, clipboard history, region screenshot,
   voice typing, and an editing block: select all, copy, paste, delete. The
   delete key rests red, the one key on the layer that destroys something.

The 2U voice bar is on every layer: double-tap to dictate into whatever has
focus, tap once to stop.

## Common questions

**Is this a Stream Deck?** No. A Stream Deck sends shortcuts to apps. This pad is
driven *by* your agents: the lights are agent state, and the keys act on a queue
of pending AI suggestions. The approval flow is the product; the shortcuts are a
side effect.

**Do I need CoworkCanvas?** No. Layers 2 and 3 drive Claude Code and Codex on
their own. The CoworkCanvas layer adds the approve/reject queue for teams using
that workspace.

**Which agents work with it?** Claude Code, Codex, and CoworkCanvas today.

**Can I buy one right now?** No. The first batch is sold out. Pricing and ship
dates for the next batch are not announced. Joining the waitlist costs nothing
and takes no payment details; the list gets the next batch first.
